Who decides What’s ‘Hot’ and ‘Not’ in Fashion Trends

There is no existence of specific group who declares what is hot fashion trend or not. In fact, the fashion designers and consumers who buys-out the fashion merchandise make their judgment and throw several opinions out there and observe what is grabbed.

The Fashion Trend Cycle

First part of the cycle, where the trend is highly hunted immediately after seeing that great fashionable hat, dress or shoe on the runway, red carpet or music video. Next, comes the emulation phase, where everyone wants a piece of the trend. Only big shots, celebrities and fashion industry players have approach to latest fashion right off the runway, which yet not showed up in retail stores. During second phase, this newbie will appear in news papers, fashion magazines, TV and internet. At last, the trend will be soaked in the market, commonly at bit lower cost.

In the second phase new merchandise is available in bit expensive designer collections. It is only the third phase, where the merchandise is available to the mass market at affordable cost for most buyers. The major part of over all mass will purchase it somewhere between second and third phase. Before two or three decades it might have taken a some rears to make it from runway to mass market, however, nowadays producers have put the fashion cycle into rapid speed. Now, a hot trend often makes it appearance in low cost or discount retail store in as little as a few days or months.

Tips To Choose Summer Bedding

Here are a few points that should be taken into account while shopping for Bedding material. First of all, identify the bedding which is helpful in the summer to keep you cool. Quilts, Blankets, Duvets, Bed Sheets, Comforters are used for the bedding.

1. A quilt is a combination of different layers stuffed with cotton or fiber. The layers are stitched in such a way the stuffed material will remain intact with the stitched pattern. Quilts help to retain the temperature and offer warmth to the user. But are not advised for summer bedding. Wool Cotton Quilts are light and breathable. So, choose Wool Cotton Quilts over normal Quilts for the summer.

2. A Blanket is a single layered bed covering, unlike quilts. It is relatively lighter than a quilt and also provides warmth to the user.

3. A Duvet is a Bedspread which is filled with feathers or wool. These are generally used with covers to reduce the maintenance. It is recommended for winter months.

4. Comforters are similar to Quilts in most aspects. The differences between the quilt and the comforter are the fabric, the Patterns, the stuffing material. Comforters are stuffed with polyester material. So they are light.

5. A Bed sheet is a simple spreadsheet over the bed. It is lighter than all other bedding material. It has nothing to do with the temperature control.

While choosing the bedding material, consider the following points.

The color of the bedding

It is apparent that Light colors reflect the heat, unlike the dark colors. So choose a Light colored bedding for the summer. Dark colored sheets trap the heat and cause inconvenience to you during the nighttime. White or Beige Colors are the best choice, though they require a bit of maintenance.

Natural or Artificial Quilt Covers

Cotton fibers are second to none in terms of comfort it offers in the summer. Natural materials like Linen or Cotton has many advantages than the synthetic fibers like polyester. Natural fibers are light in weight and they are breathable materials. So, they bring you comfort as well as peaceful sleep. Artificial Fibers are affordable and light in weight but are not suitable for summer.

Thread Count

The density of the fabric influences the design, embroidery, durability, and the pattern. If the thread count is more, then it gives a scope for the designer to weave a plush pattern on the bedding material. If the bedding is too dense and the thread count is higher, it affects the breathing ability of the fabric. So, it is recommended to use the bedding with a mid-range thread count.

Cotton Vs Linen

When it comes to natural fibers, many people got stuck at the crossroads of Linen and Cotton.

  • Linen is made from the stalk of the Flax plant. It is stronger than cotton fiber. It has a high moisture absorbing capacity and eco-friendly. It has a high breathing capacity, which allows the air to circulate. Structurally, it is stronger and will not deform. It is also hypoallergenic which makes it the best choice for baby bedding. Linen is also referred as nature’s wicker.
  • Cotton material is having a higher thread count than Linen. So it affects breathing. But it is soft to touch and resilient. You can also look for a Cotton Fabric which is blended with a Linen. It offers the advantages of both fabrics. The Bedroom Decor is incomplete without a proper bedding

The Benefits of Shopping Mall

Earlier shops in shopping centres catered to the elite. But it is no longer the case. Now, there are shops in shopping malls which cater to different budgets. Shoppers prefer shopping centres/malls to stand-alone shops for various reasons:

1. They have their own parking facility.

2. There is a wide variety of products available.

3. There are products from competing producers available under one roof. So, they can compare and make purchases.

4. They have facilities such as restrooms.

5. They have gaming zones.

6. There are food courts with a wide variety of cuisine.

7. There are movie theatres in shopping centres.

All these features making shopping a fun-filled and satisfying experience.

Since shopping centres are the most sought-after shopping destinations, it is beneficial for a businessman to set up a store in a shopping mall. Generally, retail store owners rent shop space in a mall. Renting store space benefits the businessman in many ways.

• Shopping malls are usually located in prime locations which are easily accessible. If a retailer sets up a store in a mall, he can have the shop in a prime location with a minimal investment. On the other hand, if he attempts purchasing a shop in such a location, he may not be able to afford it. A rented property implies low initial investment. This enables the businessman to utilize the saved amount on his business.

• He can attract clients of competitors who have shops in the mall. This enables him to build a clientele easily.

• He does not have to direct his time and efforts towards the maintenance of the shop. This helps him to focus on his business.

• Generally, the charges for utilities are included in the rent. Hence, he does not have to involve himself in these matters.

• Many a time, businessmen set up pop-up stores in shopping centres in order to attract customers for new products. This is a popular location for a pop-up store as it is a high traffic area.

Fashion Show Events

Fashion

Featuring runway garments from the spring and fall/winter collections of ten influential couturiers and designers, the exhibition explores the ideas and inspirations motivating Paris fashion today, and why, in an age of globalization and instantaneous communication, this venerable city remains the fashion capital. The city has been a magnet for stylish men and women since the seventeenth century, but the French fashion industry has evolved considerably over the centuries and never more than in the last few years.

Recent assessments of the current state of Paris fashion have varied widely, with some pundits announcing its death, and others claiming that it is closer to fine art than ever before. By using fashion, a medium which has always been associated with self-expression and personal identity, these designers seek to demonstrate how the use (or misuse) of technology and its modes of production have the power to stimulate, delight, and inspire in ways as yet untapped in the fashion world. In the 1800s, “fashion parades” periodically took place in Paris couture salons.

The first American fashion show likely took place in 1903 in the New York City store Ehrlich Brothers. By 1910, large department stores such as Wanamaker’s in New York City and Philadelphia were also staging fashion shows. By the 1920s, retailers across the United States held fashion shows. In the 1970s and 1980s, American designers began to hold their own fashion shows in private spaces apart from such retailers.

Models

Models in a fashion show have to change their clothes all the time to present new items to the public. Models are supposed to influence us in a positive way. Models strutting catwalks at London Fashion Week should provide a certificate attesting their good health, but there should be no outright ban on wafer-thin women, the British Fashion Council said on Friday. Spain and Italy have recommended banning models with a body mass index (BMI) of less than 18. The report acknowledged there was a problem with eating disorders among models and recommended a health education and awareness programme should be set up urgently. “During the investigation, evidence of the vulnerability of women in the modeling progression was startling and models are at high risk of eating disorders,” said Denise Kingsmill, chair of the inquiry. In a typical fashion show, models walk the runway dressed in the clothing created by the designer. Because the topic of fashion shows remains to find its historian, the earliest history of fashion shows remains obscure. Too many adolescent girls decide early on that they need to be “thin” like the models in order to be “pretty” when really they just need to keep themselves healthy.

Fashion Photography

The fashion world. Always keep up to date with high fashion magazines how their photos look. Get your inspiration, study modeling, eg: poses for high fashion shoots, lighting, however as a photographer, you should already know about lighting, if you don’t, get started on the basics of photography. Put a lot of effort and pride into building your first portfolio, you want it to be eye catching, professionally presented, you should use big glossy photos, show case different scenes and themes. This shows flexibility in your photography. Some photos can be very basic but sending a message about the clothing or fashion, not boring, and allow some photos to be really out there in tune with the clothing your photographing.

You definitely do not need to spend money on high fashion clothes for your models, borrowing clothes can be extremely helpful as you start out building your first portfolio, use different eras and use them to fit fashion and photograph them in a theme, being 60s, 70s 80s, the present, imagination and research on high fashion over these eras and then putting it all together in a portfolio you can use to sell your professional high fashion photography services. Remember your models hair and makeup have a lot to do with the end result to your fashion photography goal and that is to be a success. You need to sell your self, go to magazines, fashion stores that have runway shows, offer to shoot for them. Send your portfolio to news papers in you city and offer your services for their fashion section to shoot fashion events in your state or where ever they may send you.

There are many opportunities, but they don’t just come to you, you have to go out and find them and be confident in doing so. Know what you should be charging for your services if your freelancing. Most of the time working for a magazine, newspaper or fashion mall they will pay you per project, hour or perhaps a contract between you. But ask what the pay is and how their payment structure works. Another idea to sell your abilities as a fashion photographer is to put together a mini high fashion magazine, write your own articles. This shows initiative, imagination and professional skills in show casing your work. You can also start selling your photos online, your photos may sell like hot cakes and this gets your name out there and shows that what you are doing is what people like and want to see. Edit your photos if needed.

Eco Fashion

‘Eco fashion’ could quite literally be seen as two entirely different entities. Firstly the idea of ecological and environmentally sustainable ideas being somewhat of a trend, fad, or as it states fashion, something that may be washed away or brushed under the carpet in years to come. Secondly it can be viewed as fashion, as in clothing, accessories, perfumes, aftershaves and footwear, which is made with the environment in mind. For the purpose of ‘eco fashion’ as apparel and its derivatives, the point to focus on is the statement that ‘eco fashion’ is fashion made with the environment in mind. What does this really mean? From my point of view it can mean one of four things;

– Fashion produced and created through the use of organic materials
– Fashion produced and created through the use of recycling of otherwise excess fabrics
– Fashion produced and created through the use of recycled materials not initially directly related to fashion
– Fashion produced and created that gives back directly to the planet.

These are my four categories and I think you will agree they capture the essence of ‘eco fashion’ fabulously. Under the above headings many designers, brands and labels have designed products that can appeal to the wider public, however currently the proportion of the population that really embraces products made under the ‘eco fashion’ title remains niche. This is by no means a problem because ‘eco fashion’ is young and has over 100 years or more of modern styling to compete with.

The more pressing question is to ask, “What will happen over the coming years?” Some might say it has already begun; is ‘eco fashion’ blending and merging with regular fashion? Has it become apparent that the ‘eco fashion’ route is not so much more expensive, and creates large benefits in comparison to regular production methods? Currently as a result of smaller scale designers, brands and labels, the law of economy of scale dictate, that anything done on a small scale will ultimately be expensive, but if ‘eco fashion’ moves mainstream and all processes are inherently eco friendly there will be no definition just a shift in foundation principles.

Some might question why I am writing this as I am one of the small producers of ‘eco fashion’ that will suffer as a result. Some might say customers, who would have sought out Excentree for its niche appeal, will no longer need Excentree. Well that is where you are wrong, yes we would no longer be niche, but it won’t be the customers who need us directly it will be the mainstream department stores, clothing stores and such like who will lend from our experience and expertise.
